Credit Management Consultancy Features
Below are details of some of the areas that we are able to help with through our credit management consultancy services but
please contact us if there is something that you require which is not listed here.
Credit Policy - A credit policy should explain what the credit terms are, how and why they have been arrived at and how, why and when they are implemented. It is a valuable source of reference to all departments and can be used to iron out inconsistencies in procedures and best practice. We can be used to either update a current policy or instigate one.
Credit Procedures - Every company needs to ensure that it is chasing its clients for payment through the most effective and efficient route. This route can change as the business evolves and as the industry changes so it is necessary to review and update chasing procedures on a regular basis. We are able to review your current procedures and letters, and write a procedures manual.
Sales Ledger Housekeeping - A company may find that they have lots of unallocated credit notes and payments on the system, or that name and address details are out of date, or that small balances are not being written off according to policy and so on. We are able to clear up the anomalies and advise the staff on how to ensure that they do not end up in that position again.
Staff Recruitment and Training - Recruiting a new credit controller can be very challenging to ensure that you get the best person for your particular role. We can assist with short listing, interviewing and testing and then train the candidate once they have been selected. We can also train your current staff using a bespoke program for each employee depending on which areas they need more help with; such as computer systems, collection techniques and dealing with difficult people.
Reporting - Accurate and efficient reporting on the credit function is a necessity for every company and there are many different ways of analysing debt. We are able to show which reports will mean the most to you, how to produce them and how to understand them.
Legal Action - Unfortunately there will be a time for every business when a debtor will not pay despite all of the attempts of the credit department. If you have to issue legal proceedings on a regular basis it is worth handling this in house and we can set up the necessary procedures for you by training a member of staff so that they have the skills to deal with the action and they can call on us if they need assistance.
Interim Management or Credit Control - We can also act as an interim Credit Manager, if your normal Credit Manager is out of the office, fulfilling all of their normal duties. During busy times, such as the end of the financial year, we are able to provide support to the credit controllers by helping with the collections. We will follow your procedures and policies and can work within your offices or remotely.
